This is a special commemorative coin, legal tender in Canada, and is .800 fine silver issued during King George VI, at the end of the decade as a tribute to Newfoundland's entry into the Canadian Confederation, the 10th province of Canada. The ship featured is John Cabot's "Matthew" feature in motion in the ocean. The engraving was created by Thomas Shingles. The coin use here was from circulation, but very good condition.
