The lid is glass with a riveted handle. This 2 quart Stainless double boiler from MIU FRANCE fills a specific need in the kitchen. The layers of metal are impact bonded to the bottom of the cooker. The oustide layers are stainless steel with the inside layer being aluminum. It works fantastic for melting cheeses and chocolates and for cooking some sauces. It features 18/10 stainless steel construction with a heavy duty handle riveted to the pan. It is safe to be cleaner in the dishwasher. The tri-ply bottom is designed for even heat distribution and is made from three layers of metal. It is a pan within a pan and is designed to heat foods slowly without any burning.
